Double Fine is all set to launch the first portion of Broken Age for Kickstarter backers on. Double Fine just released part one of Broken Age to Kickstarter backers this week, and it’s a big deal for multiple reasons. Vella, the young black girl, in particular had a very strong and compelling story worth experiencing. Double Fine’s Kickstarter hit Broken Age surfaces on January 14. Kickstarter vice president and head of community Luke Crane is departing the company after launching, and quickly canceling, a controversial game project on the crowdfunding platform in February. ![]() Developer Double Fine Productions initially asked for 400,000, but ended up raising more than 3 million. ![]() What makes the storytelling so satisfying is that because the protagonists are kept separate for so long, their individual character arcs can develop in a satisfying way without interfering in the overall story. The game's funding came primarily through a Kickstarter campaign. While initially their narratives are completely separate from each other, as the story unfolds you realize how intertwined they really are. Broken Age released back in 20 as two separate acts by Double Fine and starred protagonists Vella Tartine and Shay Volta (played by Masasa Moyo and Elijah Wood, respectively).
